Take a hike through an older forest where spring wildflowers abound.
Welcome to Peninsula Trailhead and River Access site, part of the Tillamook State Forest. Here, the Trask River makes a sharp turn around a "peninsula" of volcanic rock. This site provides access to the river for sightseeing or fishing: follow the road west of the parking lot down to a primitive drift boat takeout.
River views, wildflowers, and old growth forest highlight the scenic 3/4 mile Peninsula Trail. Plan to stop at the secluded riverside picnic site at the end of the peninsula.
